Nevada education budget meeting
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Senate has approved a $2.5 billion public schools budget, bringing lawmakers closer to adjournment as they race toward a deadline to adjourn by midnight Monday.
Senators approved SB522 late Sunday, sending it to the Assembly for action Monday.
The K-12 budget represents $489 million more than the existing two-year budget and adds about $300 to the per-pupil basic support.
It also earmarks money to expand full day kindergarten at more at-risk schools and lower class sizes in early grades.
