SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Police say a toddler who bounced out the second-story window of a Spokane home was saved by his mother who leaped after him and dropped him safely to his grandma who happened to be having a smoke on the porch below.
Police Communications Director Monique Cotton says it happened Friday as the mother was coming out of the shower. The 14-month-old boy had been jumping on the bed, and she saw him just as he bounced out a half-open window.
Cotton says the mother crashed through the window and caught him by a foot as his head bounced on a small roof overhanging the front porch. She lowered him to the grandmother and then fell into some bushes. She was treated at a hospital for cuts and a shoulder injury.
