Prenups Arent Just for Married Couples Anymore

You don't have to be married to legally break-up anymore.
A new poll shows a growing number of unwed couples who live together are getting prenuptial agreements.

In fact, nearly half of the 1,600 attorneys for the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers say they've seen an increase in the number of court battles between unmarried couples.

The legally-binding contracts do the same thing as prenups, they protect a person's assets and determine who gets custody of the children and what their financial responsibilities are.

The president of the AAML says the reason for the contracts is simple: a lot more people are delaying marriage or bypassing it altogether, and the older you get, the more things you have to protect.
The Pew Research center says marriage is now at a record low, with just 51% of adults taking the plunge.
