SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) - A grieving family and workplace safety investigators are searching for answers in what led to the death of a pallet jack operator who was fatally cooked at a Bumble Bee Foods seafood processing plant.

Tony Melena says his 62-year-old father Jose Melena was killed in an accident at the Santa Fe Springs plant but the company has given the family no information about how he died.

Bumble Bee reopened the plant on Monday. The company did not immediately answer questions about how the six-year employee was killed.

A message was left for the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, which is also investigating.

Craig Harvey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner's office, says the man was accidentally cooked in a device described as a pressure cooker.
