MADERA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in central California say a thief made off with a ton of raisins from a San Joaquin Valley vineyard.
Madera County Sheriff's officials say an entire row of raisins vanished between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The raisins are valued at nearly $2,000.
Raisins in the U.S. are primarily produced in the Valley and are sun dried. Raisin production was valued at $725 million in 2012. This year, raisins are on track for a big increase due to favorable weather conditions.
