Boeing Jumbo Jet Lands at Correct Airport After Wrong Landing

WICHITA, Kansas (AP) - A jumbo cargo jet has landed at an Air Force base in Wichita, Kansas -- the one where it was supposed to land yesterday.

The Boeing 747 mistakenly landed yesterday evening at a small Wichita airport, instead of at the Air Force base a few miles away. It took off again today, using a runway that's shorter than recommended for that type of plane.

There are three airports in the area that have similar runway configurations. Boeing says it's working with the company that operates the plane to figure out how the confusion happened.

The modified 747 is part of a fleet of four that hauls parts around the world to make Boeing's 787 Dreamliner.
