GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) - A bear that's inspired the creation of a Twitter account because of his frequent forays to Glendale has been tranquilized and returned to the wild after he was seen sleeping in a tree.
Glendale police blocked off streets and evacuated residents on Sunday before California Department Fish and Game wardens fired bean bag rounds at the bear to wake him up.
As the bear came down the trunk, they fired tranquilizer darts at him.
Department spokesman Andrew Hughan says the bear ran two blocks before falling asleep on the lawn of a high school. He said it's the same bear that was tranquilized at a Glendale apartment complex in April and driven to the Angeles National Forest, only to be spotted in the suburb again several weeks later.
