Man Who Died in Mountains Remembered

The brother-in-law of Roderick Clifton is remembering Clifton as dedicated, and fun to be around. Don Emlaw is the general manager at Schwan's in Moundhouse. Emlaw said Clifton, an electrician and resident of the Sacramento area, often drove to Nevada. Emlaw said Clifton visited Emlaw's wife -- Clifton's sister.

Lyon County Sheriff's office seized the animals from what was suppose to be an animal rescue operation. Thousands of dollars and pounds later, the horses are back to a healthy weight, but now some are in search of a good home.

Horses Killed in 395 Accident

A Washoe Valley woman got away with only minor injuries Wednesday morning after hitting wild horses on U.S. 395 in Washoe Valley. The horses had wandered down from the Virginia Range because of lack of food and water, and started gathering in the neighborhood of Andrew Lane.
