Shooting Victim Speaks Out

Updated: 06/08/2013 - A man shot in Sparks is urging young people not to join gangs, as he promotes a charity event. Jason Carthagena was shot in the neck at an apartment building in 2011. Carthagena is now confined to a wheelchair and has limited use of his hands because of his injuries. Originally, he said he was not expected to live. He said he encountered several men who he got into an argument with, that he shoved one, and then one of individuals shot him in the neck at close range.
