Wells Fargo Hosts Mexican Consulate

Drivers on Plumb Lane in Reno witnessed an usual sight outside Wells Fargo Bank throughout the day Friday. Lines of Mexican Nationals wrapped around the bank branch, and crammed the lobby. They were there to get help from the Mexican Consulate, renewing passports, getting ID’s and filling out necessary paperwork.

Mexican Consul General for Nevada, Mariano Lemus Gas, says Reno does not have a Mexican Consulate building. Those in need of help would have to travel 7 hours to the office in Las Vegas. To alleviate strain on Mexicans living in Northern Nevada and Americans traveling to Mexico to work, the Consulate attempts to provide services monthly in the Reno area. Those services are usually offered in the Nevada Hispanic Services office, but the space was not available this month. Lemus Gas says he’s grateful that Wells Fargo was kind enough to provide a space for them to meet this month.

The Consulate will be traveling to Yerington and Carson City later this month. For more information on meeting times and locations contact Nevada Hispanic Services at (775) 826-1818.
