RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection has begun interviewing candidates for an upcoming vacancy on the district court bench in Washoe County.
They include a pair of Washoe County prosecutors, Elliott Sattler and Patricia Halstead, and longtime assistant state attorney general Gina Sessions.
Sattler and Sessions go before the panel on Wednesday along with Caren Cafferata-Jenkins of the Nevada Ethics Commission in Carson City and Reno lawyers Douglas Rands and Lynne Simons.
Halstead was interviewed on Tuesday along with Reno lawyers Marc Picker, Phillip Stone, Lansford Levitt and John Springgate.
The selection commission intends to cut the field to three finalists before the end of the week.
District Judge Steven Elliott has announced his retirement effective March 12.
