RENO, Nev. (AP) - A Washoe County District Court jury has convicted a 31-year-old woman of murdering her husband late last year at their Washoe Valley home.
Jurors deliberated about six hours before finding Shauna Dodd guilty Thursday night of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 37-year-old Brad Dodd.
Shauna Dodd told investigators someone broke the home to rob her and killed her husband in December.
But witnesses told investigators she had been plotting to kill her husband for months, tried to poison him and even tried to hire a hit man. Sheriff's deputies eventually recovered the gun she used and clothing she hid at a friend's residence.
Dodd has waived the penalty phase of her trial and now will be sentenced by Judge David Hardy at a time not yet determined.
