Fundraisers Set to Honor Victims of School Shooting

SPARKS, NV - The Community Foundation of Western Nevada is hosting a fund to provide financial support to the victims, students, staff, families, and Sparks Middle School. This fund, The SMS Compassion Fund, is accepting tax-deductible monetary donations. Disbursements will be advised by representatives of the Washoe County School District and the City of Sparks under the oversight of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada, to assure the funds are distributed to meet the needs of the school community as they are identified. RENO, NV - A concert and bike and car show fundraiser is being held on Sunday, November 3, 2013, to raise money for the victims of the Sparks Middle School shooting.

The fundraiser will be at Summit Racing located at 960 E Glendale Ave in Sparks from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., according to an official with the fundraiser.

Those attending the fundraiser can expect a car and bike show, face painting, bounce houses, live music, food and non-alcoholic drinks, games, and dancing, according to the official.

Officials say there is a suggested donation price of $5 for food. There is also a suggested price of $10 for a buy in for the car and bike show.

All donations and proceeds from the fundraiser will go to a fund set up at Wells Fargo, according to the official. The fund is called Sparks Strong.

The money inside of the Sparks Strong fund will be divided up between the families of the two boys who were injured and sent to Renown, and the family of Michael Landsberry, according to the official.

Officials associated with the fundraiser says individuals can visit Wells Fargo locations and ask to donate to Sparks Strong.

Saturday, November 9, the Reno Aces are hosting "Swing for Sparks" at Aces Ballpark in downtown Reno. Fans are invited to take swings from the pitching machine on the field. For each pick, one dollar will got to the victims' families and Sparks Middle School.
