Tahoe License Plate Fees Generate Grant Money

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Money generated through the sale of Lake Tahoe license plates in Nevada is being offered for environmental and restoration projects in the Tahoe Basin.

The Nevada Appeal reports the Nevada Division of State Lands has about $350,000 from license plate fees. The money is available to public agencies for capital improvement projects that further the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency's environmental thresholds.

Applications are due by Jan. 31.

Since the Tahoe plates were first issued in 1998, the program has generated more than $6 million that was used to fund more than 100 different projects.
