WEST WENDOVER, Nev. (AP) - Police in West Wendover say a man who was wanted for questioning in the shooting of his wife earlier this
week has apparently committed suicide.

West Wendover Police Sgt. David Wiskerchen told the Elko Daily Free Press that 38-year-old Abel Perez was found dead early Thursday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Sgt. Wiskerchen says Perez called 911 about 5:30 a.m. to tell authorities he intended to kill himself. Officers heard the gun shot as they arrived at his home.

Police had been looking for him since Wednesday night when his wife was shot once in the head by a shotgun at close range in a business plaza parking lot. Her name has not been released. Police say she's in critical condition at a Salt Lake City hospital.
