Sparks Police I.D. El Rancho Double Homicide Suspect

SPARKS, NV - Sparks police say they know who shot two men dead in an El Rancho Drive apartment in Sparks last month.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Luis "apo" Alejandro Menendez-Cordero. He is a member of the notorious M-S gang or Mara Salvatrucha which has its roots in El Salvador. He is described as a Latino man, approximately 6', 150 lbs, with short black hair and brown eyes.

Investigators say in the early morning hours of November 20th, a small group of people attended a party at the El Rancho Drive apartment. One of the attendees, later identified as Luis "Apo" Alejandro Menendez-Cordero, left the apartment for a short period of time before re-entering the dwelling and shooting the victims before fleeing.

When officers arrived, they found two victims and several witnesses at the apartment. Officers, fire and medical personnel provided medical care and transported the victims to Renown Medical Center where 19-year-old Kevin Melendez and 21-year-old Moises Vazquez-Sanchez died a short time later.

Sparks Police is asking for assistance from the community. If Menendez-Cordero is seen or his location is known, Sparks Police is asking that the public contact the dispatch center at 353-2231 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.

A reward is offer for any information leading to the capture of the oustanding suspect.
