RENO, Nev- Interstate 80 near East 4th Street was briefly closed because of a single vehicle crash.
The Nevada Highway Patrol told KOLO 8 News Now, the crash happened at 11:19pm Wednesday night. According to witnesses, a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee was going at a high rate of speed and lost control and hit two barriers. The vehicle eventually came to rest in the middle of the highway.
When troopers arrived on scene the 23 year old driver was unconscious and was taken out of the vehicle by bystanders. NHP believes alcohol is a factor in this crash and they believe the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time. The Sparks resident was taken to Renown for non-life threatening injuries. No other vehicles were involved.
As troopers worked to open the lane back up, a secondary minor crash occurred.
