RENO, Nev. - About 200 seniors across the area will be competing for the gold during the annual Reno-Tahoe Senior Summer Games.
The program is dedicated to promoting and implementing fitness programs and activities for people 50 years and older.
It kicks off today, June 19, 2013 and runs through June 30, 2013. Participants compete within age groups to win gold, silver, and bronze medals.
"Not only is it great exercise for seniors, it's also a chance for them to get out, meet people, and socialize," Darryl Feemster, with the City of Reno Parks and Recreation Youth and Senior services manager said.
The sports include Archery, Baggo, Badminton, Dance Marathon, Fitness, Go Kart Road Race, Horseshoes, Miniature Golf, Pickleball, Skeet and Trap Shoot, Speed Golf, Swimming, Table Tennis, Track and Field, Walk Race 1M/3M, and Weightlifting. Competitions are grouped into mens, womens, coed, or mixed doubles categories.
Registration fees are: $15 Per Person, $5 or $10 Per Sport (some additional fees apply) (covers multiple events within that sport). Fees include Opening Ceremony Lunch, Closing Ceremony Dance, water bottle, t-shirt, and tote bag. For more information visit http://www.reno.gov/index.aspx?page=2412
