RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval says President Obama and Congress should learn from him and other Republican governors who've put aside partisanship to work with Democratic lawmakers to grow their economies through spending cuts and business tax exemptions.

Sandoval is giving the GOP's formal response to the president's weekly radio address airing Saturday.

He said in the speech taped on Friday that no state had been hit harder by the recession than Nevada when he first was elected in 2010, with unemployment at nearly 15 percent and the nation's worst foreclosure and bankruptcy rates.

Sandoval says Nevada has a politically divided government just like Washington. But he says that hasn't stopped state leaders from working together. He says its due in large part to putting partisanship aside, talking through disagreements and finding common ground.
