A Reno police officer has been arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge at a downtown casino.

Police spokeswoman Michele Anderson says 26-year-old Byron Keith
Cragg has been placed on personal leave while the department conducts an internal investigation.

Sparks police Sgt. Pat Dyer says their officers were called in to make the arrest at the Eldorado hotel-casino early Wednesday to avoid a conflict of interest.

Washoe County Sheriff's spokesman Armando Avina says Cragg was
booked into the county jail at 2:34 a.m. on the misdemeanor charge and he later was released.

Anderson says Cragg joined the force in June 2007. No other details have been released.
