SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) - Prosecutors have rested their case in a preliminary hearing against Joseph Naso, who is charged with murdering four Northern California women decades ago.

Marin County prosecutors called their last witness Friday morning, an inspector who presented evidence that Naso choked a former girlfriend, scaring her and her child.

The 78-year-old photographer is representing himself, and Friday afternoon will have an opportunity to present his case.

When both sides are finished, the judge will decide if prosecutors presented enough evidence to hold the Reno, Nev., man for trial on the murders.

Prosecutors say Naso killed two women in the 1970s and another two in the 1990s, strangling them and leaving their bodies in rural areas. Prosecutors said Naso had photos of at least two of his victims appearing dead or unconscious.
