LAS VEGAS (AP) - Firefighters quelled two wildfires that flared this week in the Reno area, and are making progress battling blazes in rural eastern Nevada.
No homes are threatened and no injuries are reported.
The fires include the seven-square-mile Range Fire just three
miles from the White Pine County city of Ely.
The Bureau of Land Management reported Wednesday that containment could come Thursday. The blaze damaged power transmission lines after officials think it was started Monday by a spark on an Ely shooting range.
Near Lund, almost 375 firefighters are reporting 45 percent containment of the Egan Fire. It has charred more than 11 square miles since June 30 in and outside the remote South Egan Wilderness.
Near Reno, fire officials say the 640-acre Ironwood Fire and 206-acre Pinehaven Fire are contained.
