LOVELOCK, NV - Nevada Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the death of a California woman on Interstate 80 Tuesday morning about four miles west of Lovelock.
About 12:45AM, troopers responded to the accident in the eastbound lanes.
Troopers say preliminary investigation reveals 18-year-old Michalea Vines, from Antelope, was walking on the paved shoulder. Vines walked toward the fog line and partially into the travel lane and tried to signal an approaching pickup for help. The pickup hit Vines, and the driver pulled over to help her, according to troopers. She died at the scene.
Troopers say Vines may have been drinking, and alcohol may be a contributing factor in this accident.
