HAWTHORNE, NV - A woman is dead after she was ejected from a car during a rollover crash on US Highway 95 in Mineral County on Friday.

On Friday, December 27, 2013, troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover around 8:15 a.m.

The Highway Patrol says 60-year-old Steven D. Gordon was driving north in a white 1966 Chevrolet pickup. Angelina C. Lopez, 36, was riding as a passenger.

Troopers say the weather conditions for that stretch of the highway included freezing fog and patches of ice.

Evidence indicates the pickup lost traction, causing the rear portion of the truck to spin and go into the dirt shoulder.

The pickup overturned and ejected Lopez before coming to a stop on its roof, according to troopers.

Troopers say Lopez sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later at the scene. Gordon was taken by ground ambulance to Mount Grant General Hospital in Hawthorne for minor injuries.

Troopers say the pickup had seat belts installed, however, neither occupant was wearing one.

No other cars were involved.
