RENO, NV - The oldest bridge in downtown Rneo, the Virginia Street Bridge held up against flood waters on Sunday.

Monday engineers were on site checking for damage caused by floating debris.

So far no problems have been discovered, however a new bridge is planning to take its place beginning 2014.

The city of Rneo says a final design has been selected and $20,000,000 in funding has been identified.

"The new bridge will accommodate flood waters, flood reduction of over the bridge in that it will not have the sub structure in order for the debris and such to hit, says Cari Lanza a city of Reno Civil Engineer.

Lanza says once construction starts, the new bridge should take 18 months to complete.

She says it is designed to withstand one hundred years of use.
