CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada state jobless figure dropped
to 13.2 percent in March, with businesses reporting a rise in employment for the first time in more than three years.
A state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation report released Monday says the jobless rate dropped four-tenths of a percent last month in the Las Vegas area, to 13.3 percent.
The jobless rate was 13.1 percent in Reno, and 7.9 percent in
State economist Bill Anderson sees what he calls "signs of life" in the report.
Anderson says it may hint at the beginnings of an economic recovery for a state where unemployment was 14.8 percent in March 2010 and peaked at 14.9 percent last December.
Most of the improvement has been in the food services, professional and business services industries.
