CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Department of Transportation
say the number of traffic deaths on state roadways fell last year to 243, down from 257 in 2010.
Officials say the decline is notable and comes five years after a record 432 traffic deaths in 2006.
A breakdown shows there were 64 alcohol-related traffic deaths last year, down from 75 the previous year.
Motorcycle fatalities fell to 39 from 45, and there were four bicycle deaths, two fewer than 2010.
The one exception was the number of pedestrians killed. Statewide, 47 pedestrians were killed, six more than the previous year.
