LAS VEGAS (AP) - Nevada Democrats want to keep control of the state Senate and grow their majority in 2012.
Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford said Wednesday in a
statement that Sen. Mo Denis of Las Vegas will lead the Majority 2012 Initiative. Denis served as an assistant majority whip in this year's legislative session.
The Nevada Senate Democrats have also hired Michael Luce as their new executive director. He recently served as deputy director of the Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee.
Democrats hope the changes will help them recruit, train and support Democratic candidates.
Horsford says Democrats won the majority in 2008 for the first time in 18 years and sustained it in 2010 despite Republicans victories across the nation.
