RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada's bear hunting season is halfway to its
cutoff point, after officials announced 10 animals have been killed.
Nevada Department of Wildlife officials say one female and one male bear were killed earlier this week.
The state is limiting the hunt to 20 bears or 6 females.
Hunters have killed four females so far.
Officials tell the Reno Gazette-Journal that hunting activity seems to be increasing due to cooler weather.
State wildlife commissioners voted in September to make the first-ever state bear hunting season an annual event.
The state Wildlife Commission will review the season annually and may alter the number of bears that can be killed in a single year.
