LAS VEGAS (AP) - The federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission has
released a new report documenting decades of scientific and
technical work on a proposed nuclear waste repository in Nevada.

An NRC statement notes that the 733-page technical evaluation
released Thursday includes no findings about whether regulatory
requirements for the proposed Yucca Mountain repository have been
met.

The agency says the document is intended as a public record of decades of NRC staff work on the dormant Energy Department
application to build the permanent repository 90 miles northwest of
Las Vegas.

The NRC says two more volumes are due out by Sept. 30.

Nevada's top state official on the Yucca Mountain project, Joseph Strolin, says that's the date federal money for the stalled Yucca Mountain project is due to run out.
