NHP: Woman Involved in Head-On Crash in Early November Dies

MINDEN, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol says a woman whose car was struck by a suspected drunken driver in Douglas County has died of her injuries.

Trooper Chuck Allen says 51-year-old Reiko Hervin of Wellington died Wednesday at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.

Hervin was driving a 2006 Toyota Scion on Nov. 6 when a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup pulling a Jeep on a flatbed trailer drifted off the road. When that driver, 34-year-old Jon E. McElhaney of Gardnerville, tried to get back on pavement, the trailer became unhitched and went into the opposite lane on State Route 208.

Hervin's car hit the trailer and the Jeep rolled on top of her sedan.

Authorities say McElhaney failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for suspected felony DUI.
