MINDEN, Nev. (AP) - A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper was treated
and released after a weekend crash with a suspected drunken driver.
The NHP says the patrol car of Trooper Dan Lopez was struck in the left front early Saturday when 41-year-old Andrew Irvin of Gardnerville reportedly ran a red light at the intersection of U.S. 395 and Highway 88 in Minden.
A fellow trooper took Lopez to the Carson Valley Medical Center, where he was treated and released for minor injuries.
Authorities say Irvin displayed signs of being drunk and under the influence of marijuana. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Irvin was later released that Saturday after posting $2,287 bail. His court date is set for April.
