FERNLEY -- A Fernley couple found murdered in their home is being remembered by the community. Friends and family of Bob and Dottie Pape say the couple was very loving.
"They liked to talk to everybody... they cared about everybody deeply," Juanita Randall, who knew the couple, said.
"They brought us vegetables all summer long and people like this kind don't deserve to have what happened to them," Agnes Orozco said.
The couple was memorialized at Veterans Memorial Cemetary in Fernley Tuesday. A military tribute took place, marking Bob Pape's service in the Army. A presenter said Bob Pape entered the Army during the Korean conflict, and the couple was married for 62 years.
Terry Pape, the daughter in-law of the couple, said Dottie was more like a mother to her. She said she most remembered "the way she treated people and the forgiveness she she would have even for that man sitting in jail."
Even people who didn't know the Papes attended the memorial.
"We're sorry this happened in our community we'll do whatever we can to help you all through it," a woman at the service said.
"They both would have been awestruck at how much they are loved," Terry Pape said.
Bob and Dottie Pape were 84 years old.
