The Nevada Humane Society 'Home 4 the Holidays' pet drive kicks off this weekend and with more than 1,200 pets in need of homes, adoptions are critically needed.

“We have an unusually high number of pets in the shelter awaiting homes for this time of year,” said Bonney Brown, executive director for Nevada Humane Society. “We will be open for pet adoptions throughout the weekend from 11 a.m. until 6:30 pm and an hour earlier on Saturday at 10 am. We really need the help of the community finding homes for all the deserving dogs and cats here in the shelter.”

Last year, NHS found homes for 1,000 pets during the five-week Home 4 the Holidays adoption drive. This year the drive is a week longer ending January 2.

Pet Adopters will spin the Holiday Wheel of FURtune and save money on the already low adoption fees, win prizes, or even receive a free pet adoption (excluding a few specially priced dogs).

Adoption fees for 'Home 4 the Holidays' are $45 for adult dogs, $25 for adult cats and $50 for kittens under 4 months of age. And if you adopt a pet by 3 p.m. on December 24, you will be entered into a raffle to win a big screen TV or a kid's Baja Motorsports BA50 50cc ATV.
