Man Hit by Car in Henderson May Have Been Suicidal

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - Henderson police are investigating
whether a man was trying to commit suicide when he walked in the
middle of Boulder Highway and was struck and killed by a car.

Officials say the 59-year-old man was wearing dark clothing and
walking in the middle lane with his back turned to traffic when he was hit by a Pontiac Grand Am just after 1 a.m. Wednesday near Gibson Road.

His name has not yet been released.

Authorities say it doesn't appear the 30-year-old female driver was speeding or under the influence drugs or alcohol.

Police say the pickup truck of a Washington man who stopped at the scene to help was also hit by a car following the incident. That vehicle fled the scene.
