YERINGTON, Nev. (AP) - A 37-year-old Lyon County woman has admitted she was high on methamphetamine when she drove the wrong way on U.S. Highway 50 before slamming into another car in a fatal, head-on crash in Stagecoach last winter.
Jessica Sanchez pleaded guilty in Yerington District Court this week to two felony counts for driving under the influence of drugs causing the death of one person and serious injury of another.
The Jan. 28 accident about 7 miles east of Dayton claimed the life of Carole Marie Ernst Caron, a 51-year-old Silver Springs woman riding in the other car. The driver, 32-year-old Cindy Leon, was critically injured.
The Nevada Appeal reports Sanchez faces two to 20 years on each
count when she is sentenced Dec. 12. She remains in the Lyon County Jail.
