Local Nonprofit Group Raising Money to Help Disabled

RENO, Nev. - Nonprofit group Trinity Services, Inc. has been helping people with disabilities live full and abundant lives for nearly two decades.

“The need never goes away; there's always going to be people that are required to have these kinds of services and we're lucky enough to be able to offer that,” Jen Hollis of Trinity Services said.

They've launched a fundraising campaign to improve their facilities and the services they can provide. The hope is to raise $5000 to give their buildings a make over and take advantage of new technology like Ipads.

“There's obviously a communication barrier with some of the individuals we work with and we have amazing technology now and applications that are able to kind of bridge that gap and increase communication skills,” Hollis said. “Unfortunately we don't have the money to do that.”

A lot of their clients live in residential comes and come to the day program during the week. Many have been coming to the center on South Rock Boulevard for years.

“I like the staff and the individuals here,” client Katie Petersen said.

She's been attending the center since she graduated from high school

Two weeks into the campaign, community members are already showing their support. They've raised more than $4300 so far.

“We're raising money but we're also raising awareness,” Hollis said. “Not many people know about the services we provide here and it's important for the community to understand who we are.”
