CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The state and a female member of the Nevada Capitol Police have reached a settlement over her lawsuit alleging sexual and age discrimination.

Alice Valdez, in her Carson City District Court complaint filed last September, alleged five male officers harassed her and claimed she couldn't do her job because she was a woman.

Under the settlement filed Friday, the state and five officers denied the allegations but agreed to settle for $99,999.

Valdez attorney Jeffrey Dickerson told the Las Vegas Sun (http://bit.ly/1hFSxlf ) the settlement "achieves a modicum of justice" and saves taxpayer dollars.

Valdez says the male officers suggested she couldn't do her job because she was a woman and told her she should be a "stay-at-home mom" or "look for a job at McDonald's."
