WINNEMUCCA, Nev. (AP) - A 20-year-old man arrested last week in Winnemucca has been extradited to California to face charges in connection with a carjacking spree and alleged kidnapping in January in San Mateo County.
Winnemucca police say Armando Mendoza, formerly of Oakland, California, was arrested July 25 at his new home in Winnemucca after his vehicle was spotted in a Walmart parking lot.
He was extradited earlier this week to the San Mateo County Jail, where he was being held without bail on a warrant for his arrest as a fugitive from justice.
Authorities say he evaded police in two stolen cars in January and briefly kidnapped a woman near Half Moon Bay.
