Humboldt Inmate Dies During Prison Stay

An inmate at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City has died from a chronic medical condition, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

CARSON CITY, NV - An inmate at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City has died from a chronic medical condition, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

A news release says Sunday, February 16, 2014, James Reed died at the Regional Medical Facility at the Correctional Center. Reed was a 53-year-old from Humboldt County serving 10 years to life for sexual assault of a victim under 16.

Reed had been incarcerated with the NDOC since September 23, 1993.

An autopsy will be performed.
