CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - All 11 Democrats in the Nevada Senate
have been given chairmanships over various committees in the 2011
Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford announced the committee
and majority leadership positions Monday.
In addition, Horsford says the number of committees has been
expanded to 10, to match those in the state Assembly.
Horsford, of North Las Vegas, will chair Finance, and Sheila
Leslie of Reno will oversee the Revenue Committee.
A new Select Committee on Economic Growth and Employment will be
chaired by Ruben Kihuen of Las Vegas.
Sen. Mike Schneider of Las Vegas was elected president pro tem,
and Sen. Valerie Wiener of Las Vegas was named assistant floor
leader. Schneider is chairman of Commerce and Energy, and Wiener
will preside over the Judiciary Committee.
