Monday's high-speech chase and subsequent foot pursuit in Fernley started with an apparent kidnapping.
According to Ed Pearce on the scene there was one other occupant in the car when multiple agencies began chasing an SUV on Interstate 80 that ended in a foot pursuit in Fernley.
Deputies have a man in custody. After eluding Nevada Highway Patrol and Lyon County deputies with a turn into Fernley, the suspect abandoned his vehicle in a neighborhood near the canal. Deputies say they have a man in custody that is now being treated for injuries at this time.
Authorities feared the suspect may steal another vehicle and try and break out of a perimeter that was set up along the south side of Fernley where they say they found the man.
The identity of the man in custody has not been released.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic Male with a Mohawk, heavily tattooed, wearing an orange shirt and Levi jeans.
Units from Washoe, Lyon and Churchill Counties along with NHP are on scene and Raven is overhead.
