RENO, Nev. -- The heat was likely a factor in the rescue of a motorcyclist who became disoriented while riding in the Peavine mountain range north of Reno.
It happened after 2pm Sunday in Mitchell Canyon near the top of Peavine Peak. The rescue operation started when the rider called 911.
Captain Clint Hayes of the Truckee Meadow Fire Protection District (TMFPD) says the man was disoriented and suffering from heat exhaustion. A Care Flight crew flew him to a Reno hospital in stable condition. He is expected to recover.
A friend who was on the motorcycle trip and rode to a Reno Fire station for help was not injured or suffering from any heat-related problems.
