He's a soft-spoken, well-mannered young man looking for a permanent family before it's too late. Pedro, who prefers to be known as Paul, says the best thing about him: He can make people happy. Here's a closer look at the kid who could bring joy into your home.
Like the racetrack, Paul has had many twists and turns in his short 14 years.
Paul is learning that the course of life takes a lot of work.
"I'm getting good grades now. When I used to get like D's and F's but now I'm working harder and getting A's and B's," he says.
He's now thriving in school, on an Individual Education Program. His favorite subject? Math. The reason being:
"I want to become a zoologist, or work on a farm, but those both need a lot of school."
His career path stems from the fact Paul relates to animals. His favorites: dogs and horses.
"It takes a while to get trust from a horse, and that's what I like. It takes a while," Paul says, "Dogs, are, just no matter what you do they will still care for you."
When it comes to a forever family, Paul says that's what he wants: Care.
Sarah: "When you say people who care, how would they show you they care?"
Paul: "Like if I got in trouble, they wouldn't beat me."
Paul says his forever family would enjoy the outdoors. He enjoys hiking in the mountains, and riding a bike. Something he'd like to own one day.
But there's only one thing he really wants one day.
"I just really want a family and have a real life, instead of just aging out of foster care."
