Governor's Mansion Turns Blue for Down Syndrome

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada's first lady is joining other first spouses in turning her house blue to raise awareness of Down syndrome.

Kathleen Sandoval says blue floodlights will illuminate the sides of the governor's mansion Wednesday night as part of the 2012 Light the Way campaign.

The first lady says she and Gov. Brian Sandoval believe small gestures like the blue lights can make a difference in the lives of Nevadans affected by the chromosomal disorder.

The campaign is co-sponsored by New Jersey First Lady Mary Pat
Christie and the nonprofit organization Research Down Syndrome.
