CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The chief of staff for Nevada Gov. Jim
Gibbons says the outgoing state leader won't attend Brian Sandoval's inauguration on Monday because of a medical procedure.
Gibbons' staff chief Robin Reedy told the Las Vegas Sun that Gibbons won't be able to make the ceremony because of the procedure.
Gibbons has been recovering from a broken pelvis from a horse riding accident. He has missed public events as a result.
Sandoval beat Gibbons in a Republican primary before defeating Democrat Rory Reid in the November general election.
Gibbons' predecessor Kenny Guinn did not attend his inauguration in 2007. Guinn and Gibbons repeatedly clashed.
