RENO, Nev. (AP) - Officials say a small brush fire in southwest Reno sparked when a bird crashed into a power pole and fell to the ground.
NV Energy spokesman Karl Walquist says there were no power outages following the bird's misguided flight about 7:30 a.m. Monday.
He says residents were able to put out the flames before fire crews arrived.
The utility is now replacing a lightning rod on the power line pole where the animal hit.
Walquist says the bird didn't survive the crash.
