RENO, Nev. -- One person is dead after a three-vehicle accident apparently caused by running a red light at stopped traffic at Mill and 580.
It happened just after 3pm Saturday, August 3rd. Reno Police Department (RPD) Lt. Amy Newman says the motorcyclist was headed east on Mill Street and had the green light. A passenger vehicle ran the red light and the motorcyclist T-boned the vehicle, which spun and hit another car.
Emergency workers rushed the motorcycle rider to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No one else was seriously hurt.
The deceased is identified as Fermin Ogaldez, a 57-year-old Sparks resident.
The investigation is in its early stages, but Lt. Newman says alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this point.
