RENO, Nev. (AP) - The former executive director of the Churchill County Senior Center in Fallon has been arrested on suspicion of embezzling $298,000 from the facility.

Fallon Police Chief Kevin Gehman (gay-mun) says 70-year-old Linda Hendrickson was arrested Thursday on five felony theft counts.

A county jail spokesman said Hendrickson remained in jail late Friday afternoon in lieu of $50,000 bail. No arraignment date has been set yet.

Gehman says his department began to investigate the case in January after current senior center executive director Jamie Lee found discrepancies with financial records after Hendrickson retired.

Hendrickson is accused of diverting funds directed to the senior center into personal accounts for personal use.

Police were only able to investigate the past four years of financial records because of the statute of limitations.
