CARSON CITY, NV - The warming weather has many golfers eager to return to the course, but vandals in Carson City have caused a minor delay of game. "We had 108, carts now we have approximately 93 carts that are working," says Empire Ranch Golf Pro, Sean Boggs. "That's not going to deter us from going forward but, it's a tragedy for us." Friday morning course employees arrived to find crooks had broken into the garage where the golf carts are stored. 15 carts had been crashed around the course, 1 dumped in the Carson River. Four others were submersed in a pond.

In addition, fencing was torn down, fairways torn up and parts of the clubhouse damaged. Boggs estimates the cost of the damage to be roughly $150,000. It all happened overnight between 8:00 Thursday night and 6:00 Friday morning. Despite homes less than 100 feet away from where the break in occurred, neighbors didn't report hearing anything strange. After two other similar attacks, the course is now installing security measures like alarms and surveillance cameras. While it will take time to replace the broken carts and damage fairways, the course, which has 27 holes, still has plenty to offer those who want to get out and play a round. In fact, they're celebrating 16 years in business. Now through may 17th, $25 gets you two rounds of golf and a $5 coupon to use in the restaurant.
